2020 GMC Sierra 1500

The GMC Sierra 1500 has been around the block a time or two, with its history going back to the late 1980s. Externally, the model hasn’t changed a whole lot over the last few years, which is fine by us. New or used, the Sierra 1500 is a fantastic full-size pickup, leading the segment and winning over truck lovers. 

If you are in the market for a used model, consider the 2020 Sierra 1500, which has a whole slew of features worth mentioning. One of the biggest appeals is the vast assortment of options available to choose from. The 2020 model is available in six trims, ranging from the basic work truck style and working its way up to the rough and tumble AT4 and the luxurious Denali. On top of the six trim options, the Sierra 1500 offers multiple engine and transmission options and can also be equipped with four-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive. 

Inside the cab, drivers are treated to a comfortable and well-equipped ride. The Sierra 1500 is spacious, especially if you choose one of the larger cab styles. Select trims include luxury features like heated front and rear leather seats, a driver memory system, lumbar support for the front row, and a premium seven-speaker Bose sound system. 

The Multi-Pro tailgate adds practicality to the already work-ready truck, with six different positions to better manage your cargo. The 2020 Sierra 1500 has a maximum payload of 2,240 lbs, and the available carbon fiber bed will most likely have you volunteering for every haul there is. If towing is more your speed, the 2020 model has a maximum trailering capacity of 12,100 lbs and can be equipped with advanced towing tech. 

2023 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X

The 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 offers the new AT4X trim, which is even more off-road ready than the already well-equipped AT4. This may be a specific trim, but it definitely deserves its own section. With a 6.2L V8 at its core, the AT4X produces a whopping 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque––plenty of muscle to take on whatever the Texas landscape can throw at you. The V8 is mated with a ten-speed automatic transmission for precise, buttery smooth shifting. 

The AT4X takes off-roading to the next level with front and rear E-locking differentials, an exclusive feature no other truck in its class offers. A two-inch factory lift helps the AT4X clear rocks, water, and more, so you won’t find yourself stopped by any obstacle. This lift is accompanied by large all-terrain tires and steel skid plates that add extra protection to the undercarriage. 

The AT4X trim also features the Multi-Pro tailgate for loading and unloading, but there is an extra feature to be found here as well. A special audio system specially designed for the Multi-Pro tailgate is perfect for enjoying the great outdoors. This sound system is weatherproof, with an amplifier discreetly tucked away. Compatible devices can be connected via a jack or Bluetooth, which allows for wireless streaming so you can enjoy nature and music all at once.  

This fully loaded trim comes with everything to make a day out enjoyable. Wi-Fi hotspot capability will let you stay connected wherever you go, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto add convenient and hassle-free phone integration. Heated seats, upscale interior finishes, and innovative tech finish off the most off-road capable GMC Sierra you can get your hands on. 

2023 GMC Canyon 

It was a tough call on whether to go with one of the older models of the Canyon or the newest model because, just like the rest of the GMC line-up, there are plenty of fantastic choices. The 2023 Canyon is a great option for anyone looking for the latest and greatest GMC has to offer. The name tells you a lot, as the Canyon is another GMC off-road warrior. From factory lifts to specialized suspension, the Canyon is ideal for exploring the unique landscapes around you. 

When you look at the trim options, narrowing it down to just one top choice might be difficult. At first glance, you would think the 2023 Canyon line is made up of all top trims, with no base models in sight. That is thanks to GMC’s generosity when it came to loading up each and every trim of the Canyon with features. There are four trims available on the 2023 model, starting with the Elevation, followed by the AT4, Denali, and lastly, the AT4X. 

The Canyon can tow and haul with the best of them, but that isn’t the truck’s focus. Instead, this truck shines when stomping the trails. The Elevation trim is perfect for drivers looking to dip their toes in the downright dirty off-roading world. It offers all-terrain tires, an off-road display, and a few other gadgets and gizmos to help you along your way. 

The AT4 is where the oh-so-awesome locking differential comes into play, increasing traction and helping you avoid those ruts. The locking differential is for the rear, with automatic locking. This works with standard four-wheel drive and Off-Road and Terrain drive modes, which prime the Canyon for the adventures ahead. The next trim, the Denali, features more luxurious finishes and comforts for drivers who don’t want to rough it. 

The Canyon AT4X takes off-roading to a whole new level. This trim adds front and rear E-locking differentials, a combination that optimizes traction and off-road performance. A first in its segment, the Canyon AT4X is provided with front and rear underbody cameras. These unique views let you monitor essential parts when traveling over challenging terrain. The views don’t end there either, with eight other camera angles. In case you miss a step, the AT4X also comes equipped with rocker protection to help keep that paint job pristine and transfer case protection to protect the drivetrain.
